Mexico

We've been to Mexico four times and still have barely scratched the surface on all the wonderful things this country has to offer. Mexico has something for every type of traveler, whether that's beach resorts, Mayan and Aztec ruins, cenotes, incredible tacos, museums, or world class snorkeling. On a personal note, this gorgeous country is where Alex and I got married in 2024, so it will always be special to us.

Top Locations

Chichén Itzá: Ancient Mayan ruins that are one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.

Riviera Maya (Cancún, Playa del Carmen, and Tulum): Beachside resorts near Mayan ruins and cenotes.

Cozumel: A snorkeler or diver's dream.

Mexico City: A cultural hotspot. Some highlights include taking a hot air balloon over Teotihuacán ruins, the Frida Kahlo Museum, the historic center, and the food scene.

El Rosario Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary: A fantastic place to witness the Monarch Butterfly Migration, where millions of butterflies migrate from the North to spend the colder months in sunny Mexico. Witnessing this (along with a visit to nearby Mexico City) is very high on my bucket list.

Cabo San Lucas: A city known for luxury resorts, nightlife, and (in the right season) whale watching.

Oaxaca: A city famous for its Day of the Dead celebrations as well as its food (including mole and mezcal).

Holbox: A car-free island off the grid that's famous for its flamingos and bioluminescence.
